Yes! It’s here, it’s live, our Community Byte-Sized book is AVAILABLE NOW !

After months of hard work and community (that’s you!) efforts we’ve finally reached the point where we can say, our book: Byte-Sized: Cloud design principles and architectural recommendations is now available for purchase, the paperback version that is. Read this blog to find out how and where to get it.

It’s a wrap! Submissions for (book) Project Byte-Sized are closed

THANK YOU – that’s probably the best, or only way to start this blog. We (= myself and Christiaan Brinkhoff) started the Byte-Sized book project back in January and we never expected this amount of attention and help from the community (of course, we hoped for it).

Citrix FMA Internals… Power Management – Presentation video + slides!

A few moths ago, back in June, Mick Glover and I gave a presentation at the E2EVC in Berlin. Our topic was FMA Power Management. We talked about what it is, how it works, where to configure it, some specifics you need to be aware of before considering or implementing Power Management, what some of the advantages are, some of the things still missing and we gave a few examples on some more advanced Power Management features using PowerShell including a brief look into the future of Power Management.

E2EVC… The one in Berlin. Presenting on FMA Power Management!

Today (13-06-2015) Mick (Glover) and I will present on FMA Power management here at the E2EVC conference in Berlin. If you are in the audience, we would like to thank you very much for attending and hopefully you’ll like what we have to tell and show you. On a more personal note I’d like to thank my co-presenter Mick for taking the time, not only here in Berlin, but also leading up to the event while preparing our slides and content, I know how crazy busy you guys are over at Citrix, thanks Mick. We also have a small community announcement coming up, the FMA Internals Co-op. Read on to learn more.

Introducing the FMA Internals Co-op

As of today, Saturday the 13th of June 2015, Mick Glover and I are proud to present the FMA Internals Co-op. A co-operation between a seasoned Citrix veteran and an established community blogger and Citrix enthusiast. Which is sort of a unique combination as far as we know.

I’m presenting at the Dutch Citrix User Group… And to me that’s huge!

DUCUG-with-text-200x105After two years of blogging, hiding behind my MacBook :) and virtually on Twitter, Linked-In etc… the time has finally come to take the next step. On March 6th I will be presenting at the next DuCUG event, or Dutch Citrix User Group in full, taking place at Dell in Amsterdam. In fact if you are reading this, chances are that I’m on stage at this very moment. For me it is an absolute first, not just at DuCUG but also with regards to presenting, or public speaking, in general. I have had multiple opportunities in the past but I just kept making up excuses so I wouldn’t have to go up on stage. Because to be honest, the thought of standing in front of a big crowd and doing ‘my thing’ kind of scares me. And DuCUG can be considered a big crowd, at least in my book. It has been sold out for weeks, as it always is, meaning that no less than 150 IT professionals will be there to hear what I, and others, have to say. It’s an honour to be part of their line-up, check their agenda (screenshot below), there are some ‘big’ names on there.

Who needs Citrix Synergy Europe when we have events like E2EVC?!

crisis-management-mistakeDon’t get me wrong, I like Citrix, but every now and again companies, since their run by people, make mistakes, it happens. Normally you’d learn from them, but I guess there will always be exceptions. Dear Citrix, please listen to us, the community, and bring back Synergy to where it belongs (as well), Europe! Luckily we have E2EVC, which, even if Synergy would return, is ranked Nr. 1 by many, and since a couple of months I know why. Of course it’s hard to compare these types of events and maybe we shouldn’t, but let’s just say that Citrix leaves us no other choice. Read on please, it’s not all bad.
