Frequently Asked Questions about Inside Citrix

Last year, in May 2016 to be a bit more precise I published my first book named: Inside Citrix – The FlexCast Management Architecture. Since than I have had a ton of positive feedback and reactions, through Twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, you name it. It goes without saying that all this made me a very happy man. Next to the feedback I also received a bunch of questions, ranging from the amount of books sold to how applicable the content is today with the rapid release cycle Citrix is currently maintaining. In this (short) post I’ll try to answer all of the most frequently asked questions throughout the last six months , so I can also refer people back to this post in the (near) future.

2016 — A personal look in the rearview mirror

And what a year it has been! Personally as well as professionally I have managed to improve and surprise myself on multiple levels. On some occasions I wasn’t even capable of spelling ‘comfort-zone’ correctly, I was so far off. The best thing is, I already have some great prospects for 2017 as well, but I’ll (have to) save that for a future post, not to long from now. 2016, like 2015 before that was again packed with community get-togethers’, mostly in the form of conferences, some small (er) some big/huge, but all fun and it truly never gets tiring, presenting included. Citrix Synergy SYN508 – Houdini’s guide to Citrix printing, slide deck

Last Tuesday I gave my first ever Citrix Synergy presentation. It was a so-called Expo Theater session as part of the ‘Meet the Experts’ program over at the Citrix booth. Exiting to say the least. Luckily it went well and I received some very positive feedback. Afterwards multiple attendees approached me asking for the slide deck. I promised to make it available on basvankaam.com as soon as possible. So here it is. Just imagine the slide animations being in there as well. 2015! My year in review, and what a year it has been!

2015, where do I start? It was an amazing year to say the least, personally as well as professionally. For one, it was another year full of events and get togethers, which, as always I enjoyed very much. In fact, 2015 marked the year of my first ever Citrix Synergy, and what a ride it turned out to be. I’ll definitely be back for seconds! Looking back from 2013 up till now I can only say that I am privileged to have met so many great and fun community folks over the last couple of years and hopefully it doesn’t stop here.

E2EVC… The one in Berlin. Presenting on FMA Power Management!

Today (13-06-2015) Mick (Glover) and I will present on FMA Power management here at the E2EVC conference in Berlin. If you are in the audience, we would like to thank you very much for attending and hopefully you’ll like what we have to tell and show you. Introducing the FMA Internals Co-op

As of today, Saturday the 13^th of June 2015, Mick Glover and I are proud to present the FMA Internals Co-op. A co-operation between a seasoned Citrix veteran and an established community blogger and Citrix enthusiast. Which is sort of a unique combination as far as we know.

Who needs Citrix Synergy Europe when we have events like E2EVC?!

Don’t get me wrong, I like Citrix, but every now and again companies, since their run by people, make mistakes, it happens. Normally you’d learn from them, but I guess there will always be exceptions. Dear Citrix, please listen to us, the community, and bring back Synergy to where it belongs (as well), Europe! Luckily we have E2EVC, which, even if Synergy would return, is ranked Nr. 1 by many, and since a couple of months I know why. Of course it’s hard to compare these types of events and maybe we shouldn’t, but let’s just say that Citrix leaves us no other choice. Read on please, it’s not all bad.
