New in AOS 5.0: Nutanix Acropolis File Services

It is hard to come up with a topic to write about when it comes to the Nutanix product portfolio. For one, there is just too much to choose from. I mean, just have a look at the list of features they introduced with the release of AOS 5.0 and it will get your head spinning. Secondly, their own documentation is just outstanding. Their product fact-sheets, website and of course Steven Poitras’s The Nutanix Bible, which contains just about everything you might want to about Nutanix and the bits and bytes involved. Never mind the endless list of community (Blog) rock stars working for or surrounding the company.

2016 — A personal look in the rearview mirror

And what a year it has been! Personally as well as professionally I have managed to improve and surprise myself on multiple levels. On some occasions I wasn’t even capable of spelling ‘comfort-zone’ correctly, I was so far off. The best thing is, I already have some great prospects for 2017 as well, but I’ll (have to) save that for a future post, not to long from now. 2016, like 2015 before that was again packed with community get-togethers’, mostly in the form of conferences, some small (er) some big/huge, but all fun and it truly never gets tiring, presenting included. Ok, let’s reflect for a minute, shall we…

2015! My year in review, and what a year it has been!

2015, where do I start? It was an amazing year to say the least, personally as well as professionally. For one, it was another year full of events and get togethers, which, as always I enjoyed very much. In fact, 2015 marked the year of my first ever Citrix Synergy, and what a ride it turned out to be. I’ll definitely be back for seconds! Looking back from 2013 up till now I can only say that I am privileged to have met so many great and fun community folks over the last couple of years and hopefully it doesn’t stop here.

Nutanix & Citrix… A match made in heaven. In 30 minutes we will tell you why!

The title of our slide-deck, which we presented at the 7th Dutch Citrix User Group (DuCUG) over at Cisco Systems in Amsterdam (Friday the 25th of September). ‘We’ in this case are Kees Baggerman, Sr. Solutions Architect over at Nutanix, and myself. We talked about Nutanix in general, why XenApp and/or XenDesktop both perform so well on Nutanix, the Acropolis infrastructure, the Distributed Storage and App Mobility Fabric, and of course, last but not least, the Acropolis Hypervisor, the latest addition to the Citrix Certified portfolio. We also touched on some of the services and features already available today (fully supported of course) and briefly highlighted some features which will be available in one of the upcoming Acropolis releases. I also included our slide-deck.

Ask not what the community can do for you, ask what you can do for the community!

Now that Synergy has come and gone it’s time to reflect. Don’t worry; I won’t list all announcements, products, technologies etc. that has been done many times over and I think that by now most of you know about the Workspace Cloud, Octoblu, and the renewed love for XenApp etc. to name just a few. I also don’t want to talk about the Keynote(s), this has been chewed on and spit out more times than I can count, which is a good thing, don’t get me wrong. The more the merrier, since we can all benefit from positive as well as negative comments and/or feedback one way or the other. And of course we are all entitled to our opinion.

Being a Nutanix (NTC) Technology Champion… What is it all about?

Being a Nutanix Technology Champion, NTC in short, is something special. Let me, throughout this post, try and provide you with some insights on what to expect once you’re ‘in’, so to speak. Although I can’t compare it to any of the other ‘programs’ out there, since this is the first time my efforts got recognized in such a way, I’m confident that they’re doing a more than decent job in keeping their community members up to speed with all that is going on within the company and everything that surrounds it.
